19th April 2011 - My first playgroup class...
Mummy had originally been procrastinating whether to send me to Bibinogs...
then it was Daddy who told Mummy to send me there.
So, with the push, Mummy decided to start me now! Whereas Kor Kor Asher only went there when he was 2 years old. I am a good 8 months earlier...

I had fun! Mummy wanted to start me earlier as I would be starting Kinderland Full Day dropped off program probably 2nd quarter to mid next year...so she would like me to have a feel of how attending class is like...and get used to having other little children and teachers as care takers around me...rather than just Mummy & Auntie Beth.

So far, I seemed to do really well in the class and even when Mummy stepped out of the classroom, I never panic at all. I also enjoyed the craft session and mostly the snack and bubbles time. There is the cheeky part of me too, where I keep going to the other end to knock on the chairs and going to the basin to wash my hand in a bid to play with water...Mummy say just getting me back tires her out...

Looking forward to my next class..
I attend twice a week, each session 1.5 hours, 10AM - 1130AM.
So every Tuesday and Friday morning I will follow Kor Kor to his school at 9AM as Mummy drops him off at Kinderland before heading to Bibinogs.
Next time...maybe mid next year we will go to Kinderland together!

the older I am, the more I think I seemed to find everywhere in this world is filled with hypocrisy!
"Ya..Lindy Jin can't handle Hypocrisy" - someone said that to me today..

Hmm...

is it can't handle or choose not to handle?
is it a matter of choice?

Beginning to think that hanging around with little children is where no social mask is required!
why it seemed to me that most people these days like to complicate matters?
why can't they just do it simple and straightforward while taking others into consideration?
Is hypocrisy the result of self-centered manner?

we had a good talk last week and you finally acknowledged and decided to put in efforts to address the issues. Thank you. Now I know I am not alone afterall...

you know, it takes more than just a good man to sustain the love and marriage...

sometimes she is really at a loss about what to do too...Because no daddy by her side, she says it simply just doesn't motivate much...but well, for us, she still tries her best!

My recent developments

-eats alot..in fact eating is one of my favourite past time..but I don't seem to get fat..
-eats literally everything even wolfberries and I like to point to what I want at a particular moment and will reject the ones that I am not referring to until the adults get the right one...
-still wearing L size diapers as I am rather trim and the XL size is still kind of loosely fitted on me..hee hee will drop...
-calling aloud mama, papa, ball ball, nana, kick, bob, eat, bird... ...and more & more word-like sounds very similar to the words
-shows my discontentment when shown my past videos in which I am crying...
-likes to see bird and especially every morning after I wake up when we get out of our room..
-likes walking around in the house..
-gets jealous and likes to fight for mummy with with brother Asher..
-walks to get the milk powder from a table where a basket containing the milk powder and etc are left every morning when I wake up...gesturing to Mummy that I want milk..once mummy made the milk and gives me the bottle of milk, I will walk back to my mattress and lie down to drink...
-likes to tilt my head to Mummy's view and say "Mama" until I get her acknowledgment.
-seem to adore my grandpa surprisingly ...i prefer my grandpa to grandma...hahaha
-likes to cling on to daddy and mummy..if I dont want to get down, I wll "fuss" and "kick", throw my legs about..which is rather cute(according to mummy)
-always "bully" my brother Asher...I kind of beat him when I don't get what I want from him..or if he takes the toy I want..hehe and kor kor will mostly "lose" to me and cry...hahahha
-"vroom Vroom!! Ask and gestures to play Lightning McQueen for me to watch..by bringing the remote control to Mummy.." I am a huge fan of Lightning McQueen and Bob Builder!!
-enjoys strolling the new bob builder stroller bag mummy bought for Kor Kor Asher to bring to school...I always thought I will be the one going as I head for the car eagerly...but always end up in disappointment..
-likes to scribble with crayons or markers...
-likes to be a part of everything, every activity...
-seems afraid of Lizards...I am a timid boy...but I have Brother Asher to protect me!!

I turned 15 months & We went Sentosa!

15th March 2011 Tuesday.
The day Kor Kor turned 37 months old and I turned 15 months old...

Mummy brought us to Sentosa...
We went together with Uncle Felix & family..and Wai Po.
It was fun for Kor Kor..but I couldnt do most of the rides as I am still too young..but I had a good time strolling too...

Surprisingly I did well for my first time into the "cinematrix" movie...where the seat rocks and shakes...I sat in Mummy's laps and Mummy covered my ears with her hands while I sat facing Mummy...hugged closely in her arms...Cousin Ines cried...

Hopefully Daddy can join us in our outings soon!

Auntie Beth's day off and Mummy is home alone with me! Or I am home alone with Mummy!!
Mummy cooked for me and I finished everything!!! Yummy!!
I like to eat on my own and although it can be a real mess, Mummy highly encourages it! :)

Every morning when Kor Kor Asher goes to school, I will happily stroll his bag out and walk towards Mummy's car...as if I am the one to go to school.
But reality knocks into me once Mummy carries me and pass me to Auntie Beth...while Kor Kor Asher gets into the car!!!I am then asked to wave goodbye to them, to the car that I thought I was going to get in!!!!

It has got a fantastic playarea for kids like us and good mix of shops for Mummy to do her shopping and get the essentials...and it is not too far from our place! Only thing is the lifts and carpark ain't too user-friendly.

I can say a few words...papa, mama, dog, bird, ball...etc..
I can self feed messily...
I can understand alot of simple instructions even 2 stage instructions...like "go to the room and get the ball"...
I can gesture to what I want and make simple requests.
I love pretend play & hide & seek...
however unlike Kor Kor, I am very timid...curios yet timid. Hehhehe

Nevertheless, I am a happy 14th month old baby!

Blossoming into a toddler from a baby

Not much a baby anymore...
I have upgraded to a toddler now...
I yak yak more and point to what I want...
I am okay with drinking formula milk now and I walk around alot...
I like going outdoors and I love playing by the sand pit too...
Oh and I love watching birds ...
One BIG difference between Kor Kor and I is that I love and adore food!
Mummy says I eat anything...and every now and then...
I am very much more aware of the surroundings, people around me, my wants and needs...
I love disturbing my brother Asher and sometimes pisses him...hahaha...I am very cheeky at times...it is hard to get angry with me once I flashes my cheeky grin.. ;p

It is fun having siblings to play together...
And when we go out, we are never alone...
Of course we have to learn to share our toys and things...and our caretakers' attention...
including Daddy & Mummy!

Singapore declining birthrate

In my opinion, the main problem to our falling birth rate is a big picture with many interlocking factors... Costs - Pregnancy - Baby/Childcare (Nuturing & upbringing & logistics) - Education & Schools - Living Standards - Job/career - personal lifestyle - Living standards etc

I am 29 turning 30. Mother of two boys aged 3 and 1. Stay on our own with a helper and drives a 5 yr old jap car. Most ppl think I am a young mum in today's era, but I don't really think so. I wished I had girl and will prbly try for number 3 again. Most people will say, "Wow! Salute you man..."I wished I had started earlier since I got married when I was 23 turning 24 and got together in a courtship with my hubby when I was 17 turning 18..

Mothers are still very much the main caregiver for the children as most man just can't lift a finger to initiate any significant help or at least my man. I often said being a mother is one of the toughest job on earth...though it is also one of the most fulfilling one. You are on standby every 24/7.

For people who doesn't fancy having children, they will never be able to understand the joy behind parenthood. Of course, the joy behind is often masked by the difficulties, hardship and compromises ahead. Having children is not just about getting pregnant, giving birth and that's it. In fact that really is just a mere part of it. It is about nuturing the child and enjoying the process of it. But in order to be able to enjoy the process of it...money must still be coming in to cover the household expenses and yet preferably still have some savings no matterhow little for tommorrow...

I am very lucky for now that I am able to take some time off work and not having to work full day full hours. Hence I am able to care for my kids. Thanks to my very hardworking husband. Yet I still find time is never enough...having to juggle the household from monthly bills to groceries to planning, share some of husband's workload, own work, the children and everything else. I am lucky I have a rather good maid/helper...if not I would have gone crazy. So as tough as it is, I also remind myself I am lucky still.

As much as I appreciate the childcare subsidies, the babybonus, the tax incentives given, it will never be enough. Why?
(1) childcare subsidywhen childcare subsides increases, the fees charged by the centres also increase.Also I have always wondered, why are childcare subsdies only for MCYS Childcare centres and not for MOE registered kindergartens.
(2) cash gift upfront + CDA dollar to dollar top up Cash gift upfront helps to cover some of the cost of the initial baby raising costs ie Jabs etc...CDA account = only possible to achieve if you can save in excess...And anyway, money is never enough ... so there will never be an end to this part of the solution..

I have my moments of frustrations too..and I ask myself WHY WHY WHY?
Why have children...Eversince I had children, I have had to literally ...
(1) stop going for movies
(2) stop going for my fav KTV sessions
(3) stop going for holidays
(4) compromise on career moves etc
and the list can go on and on...

However, those are just my moments of frustrations...At the end f the day, the children'innocent laughter, silly talk and so on more than makes my day happier...any compromise is really worthwhile. "I want MUMMY happy...."

Bottomline, having children equates a lot of personal life and lifestyle compromise. And I believe this is clearly the largest influencing factor whether to have children or not.In our modern society where materialism and wealth creation (to afford the materialistic & luxury lifestyle) is more often the emphasis of young people today.

If I don't have my 2 boys today, I probably would have toured alot more other countries and can long changed my 5 years old jap car to a nice flashy continenal car. I could take up any courses that i like and yet still have time for my fav KTV sessions without having to feel guilty having to leave my children in the care of my helper. If I am unhappy, I can no longer jut pack my bags and go off, for i I did that, what happens to my children?
Other than affordability, It is crucial whether young people these days finds it justifiable to make the compromises to their lifestyle. Just like spending $1K for children's preschool classes VS spending that 1K on branded goods or a holiday or even the latest iPAD. That's also another compromise.

In my opinion, most young people these days are too pampered and self centred to be able to make such compromises. But that's not entirely their fault too. It is how our society has grown to become over thepast years.I hve seen children driving cars to schools but parents take public transport to work. To me this is ridiculous. I see alot of young people even young teens eating out at nice fancy restaurants...i rem KFC/PIZZA HUT was a luxury to me in my earlier school days...even now still.

Everwhere u can see young people/teens donning branded goods top to toe..Not that I don't but at least I spend from what I earn and not what my parents earn. And I know I cant spnd on everything. If I want to spend on something, then I hve to save on others..but i do ot see this on today's young people. To them, Everything must be good and expensive today becos that equals quality and perhps even pride for peer pressure and societal pressure. So why would they give up so much justto have children?

Getting into primary schools is another issue. Staying within 1KM, 2KM i understand the basis of it. Why should parents of the alumni school be given priority?? Isnt it not meritocratic at all? This is just going to lead to an even worst income/class gap o our people in singapore. Children of parents who oes to top schools, goes to top schools easily...thats y many a times professionals breed within the family too..

Then to the KIASU-ISM spirit being cultivated in singapore...I fear for the future of my truely singaporean children. Wll they be able to compete in their school and work in future if I do not prepare them well enough now? What is considered preparing them well enough? Hw can they afford a home to call their own in future? They have no overseas malaysia, australia, china homes etc to go back to...

I have nothng against PRs. My MUM is a malaysian PR and now getting citizenship in SG.But why should PRs enjoy many similar or even near similar benefits of CITIZEN Singaporeans?At the end of the day, they can enjoy eveything here but go back to their own country when living standards here becomes too high for them...but where can SG citizens go unless we leave our famil and roots here and migrate. Yes, maybe when they truly want to be a part of the fantastic place to be in (tiny singapore) in their opinion and takeup citizenship in SG, then they shoulenjoy similar benefits be it housing, medical, CPF, subsidies, tax rebates etc.

It is sad to see the reality that Singaporeans do not want to have children...but when you lookback, why is this the result today? Having children should not even have been the responsibility by forms of incentives and monetary means and directions by the govt...but some policies and directions to grow our country by the govt in other overlapping areas is clearly a key to te resulting culture and mentality of fellow singaporeans.

So any solutions? I think it is a tough nut to crack by now with the way our society had evolved...How to get people to trade off a big part of their lifestyle luxury and time to have children and build a truely singaporean family?

We had lots of activities...

We celebrated Xmas at Uncle Felix's home...but never take pictures...
then we went on to 2nd xmas party at Godma Sann's place with the 1to6 gang..

We had my first photoshoot few days back...
Mummy arranged the photoshoot for us to mark the moment we start walking and also as a gift t to us for our first year! Kor Kor Asher also had one before he turned one.
We both walked about the same time and so had our first photoshoot at about 10.5months old each..

We enjoyed thoroughly and thanks to Daddy & Mummy!

Introduced to my first bottle of formula milk

Coming to 11 months old...
Mummy reluctantly introduced formula milk to me...
As breastmilk supply has decreased and we hardly have any storage in the fridge...
anyway it is also about time to gradually introduce...as I always cannot sleep through the night without asking for more milk...

Mummy initially was a little sad when she saw how happy I was when offered the bottle of formula milk... ...

To prevent wasting the formula milk, (as it was always being thrown away when I don't drink it..) Mummy always make little and only add more if I want...

Sometimes I don't even want to finish 60mls...which is one scoop..

when I only had Baby Asher, I found him to be a happy & cheerful baby...
and people generally commented that too...
but that happy and cheerful side is often hidden behind his "aloof and cool" look...

However, now with Baby Ayden, I found him to be EVEN MORE happy & cheerful baby...
and people ALWAYS comment that too...
Baby Ayden is SOOOOOO super generous with his smile that he always wear it on his face...
with Ayden, there is never a long moment without flashing a smile...

my darlin...mummy hasn't been active in recording your milestones...this I must admit I am truely sorry about it...

I can remember you ... ...
beginning to crawl at 5 months plus...
having your central incisor - first pair of teeth (lower) at 6 months old...
having your central incisor - 2nd pair of teeth (upper) started erupting at 8 months plus...
beginning to reach for support upwards to stand at 7 months and strengthening through 8 months...

begin yakking lots of recent...
beginning to demand for "adult food" and attention by making noise at 9 months...

breastfed from day 1, the minute you came out to this world
had your first taste of cereal solids at 5.5months old
had your first try of brown rice porridge at almost 8 months old
loves HEINZ jar foods, loves biscuits...
had your first try of adult food at approx 9 months old and never stop since then...
gave you your first bottle of Similac Formula at 10 months old (17th Oct 2010) but you rejected it totally after 1 sip...

though you have not been to as many places unlike Kor Kor Asher when he was a baby just like u...but you definitely have benefited in many other areas...
Like following Kor kor to the Play Gym every Wednesday, this is something Kor Kor only started at 2 and half years old!
Like going to play school, although you have yet to start ,but because ground work has been done for Kor Kor, so you will be able to start earlier too...
Like having a play mate and so much toys!
Like having sOoo much more space and a varied play home environment since few months old...
Like having Kor Kor Asher who dotes on you most of the time!

Most think and say that the younger one gets more "hand me downs" and lesser new stuffs...
On the contrary, I have definitely bought you Baby Ayden more new stuffs than when Kor Kor was a baby... ...

Anyway, I love you both lots till even a couple of hours out spent with friends, leaving both of you at home, makes me feel SO guilty!

10 months old baby!

10 months old baby...
one of my greatest past time is play time with my brother Asher Kor Kor...
unfortunately, sometimes he doesn't like to share his toys with me...
but sometimes I am the naughty one...hehe

Kor Kor's best friend is Thomas...he always need to hold on to Thomas...

playing together...somehow whatever Kor Kor plays with, I also want...
children are like that...
we find fun in fighting for the toys..

Kor Kor like to play with the gun...bang me and I play dead..

sometimes the adults are horrible...they leave me in the play yard...
and don't let me out...

now I can get out of the bath tub on my own...

but got to watch after me...because it is slippery..

we play at the gym...

we shower together sometimes...

sometimes we play together in the room before our nap...

we play cooking in the playhouse...

we go to Macdonalds after a swimming session
or after Kor Kor's music class...

I am curious about the potty....

both watching TV ... seated inside the play yard...

I enjoy my bath time always

Now I always want to walk...but i still need help and support...
I am happy to be exploring everywhere on my legs and support that I don't crawl as much now...
and it looks like I am going to walk independently on my own real soon...

We went to the Zoo....FINALLY!!!

The happiest part was Daddy managed to stay throughout the trip.

Dear Ayden...

As I update your blog today...
as I try to put in all those memories I had failed to pen down...
I realised so much has faded.
I am unable to remember as much details as I did for your brother Asher back then.
Forgive me. I think I have slackened so much. I am really so sorry, sweetheart.
No words can express the kind of guilt I feel. Why why why...why did I fail to do it?

Last month when breastmilk supply suddenly dropped drastically...I was sOOOOoooO anxious.
Our fridge BM storage running super low and the production is pathetically little. I was so frantically worried. I went to google about it...so it is because of the return of my menses.
I don't recall it happened when menses returned 9 months after Asher's birth. Milk supply probably wasnt that bad. Anyway, then I tried to pump every now and then, latch you on more.
Lucky lucky, efforts didnt go down the drain...supply came back after a week of hard work...
Now I am so relieved.

You are such a cute and adorable baby.
Everywhere we go, definitely some strangers will just comment about your cuteness and you are simply awesome with giving generous smiles without fail...
:)

Whereas when Kor Kor followed me practically everywhere I went last time, you dont have that luxury...since I have to take care of Kor Kor nowadays.
Kor Kor definitely has been to more places as a baby compared with you.
But, you have a Kor Kor to play with right from birth!
:)

You gain some, you lose some.

We are lucky we have a great helper, Auntie Elizabeth who joined our family on 10th July 2010.
She has been a great help in the family so far and we have to thank Auntie Joanne Loh for introducing her to mummy and taking note for mummy when she was on her own maid search!

I acknowledge I am the EMOTIONAL FREAK who
never fails to let my tears flow like a running tap
at the slightest touch to my heart...
at the slightest moment of my helplessness...
at the slightest unjust I feel...

Despite that, I am still very much a RATIONAL person....hmm a woman who
at times is just like a little girl laughing away to my heart's content so genuinely and
at times with no choice but to shoulder all the tasks and overcome the obstacles ahead independently...

The devil in me always tell me...it is no use one.
But
The angel in me always tell me...it is ok, just do your best, put in your heart and soul...
one day time will tell.
Will time really time? I doubt so.

Anyway, someone just reminded me...as long as I have done my best, nothing against my conscience, I dont have to care about anything much outside that. Many times, human beings are selfish...only thinking for themselves without sparing a thought for others.
Those quiet ones are the most harmful ones!

As for now, don't think so much anymore. Don't dwell on the past anymore.
Just move on. LIFE GOES ON.

9 months old baby!

Just a few weeks difference and I am so different...
suddenly I seemed very very keen to start walking...unlike before when all I wanted was just to crawl ,crawl, crawl.

Mummy always say I am a clingy baby unlike Asher Kor Kor back then....
Now I have a nickname... "SUPERGLUE BABY".

I am eager to talk...always babbling these days.
Able to walk from one end of the play yard to the other end, holding onto the play yard..
1 pair front teeth at the bottom row fully erupted...1 pair of teeth on top row half erupted..
I can pass things from 1 hand to the other smoothly..
I have been drinking well from the learning cup..
I am also very eager to try new tastes and occasionally gets a small treat of food outside my baby food..when the adults are eating something...if they don't give it to me..I will "demand" for it! :D
Oh and I am also happy to watch TV hahahahhaha....

whenever Mummy walks past me without carrying me...I will CRY CRY very loudly for her.

Every Wednesday morning, I will follow Kor Kor to the playgym and have some activity fun!
Tue, Thur, Fri mornings Mummy will hand me over to Auntie Beth 8plus AM and I won't get to see her until lunchtime as she has to send Kor Kor to school and will return only 12plus pm.
That's when we have lunch together...

Once or twice a week, we have a short 20mins "football" session together with Kor Kor Asher, Auntie Beth and followed by an outdoor pool bath time before our afternoon nap.
Hmm...now I am old enough..Mummy is considering to start playing play painting too...

Anyway, Mummy tries to bring us out for outdoor field trips as often..and try to get Daddy to come along...so location got to be convenient for him...
We went to Pasir Ris Park for picnic and sand play! And Daddy came by! :)

At eight months old, I get to go to the Baby Gym once every week...hehe I tag along with Kor Kor Asher..it is fun and I love it!

I am now 7.5 months old.
As always, am a happy and cheery baby.

So far, Auntie Beth seems really a good helper for mummy and us!
With a good helper, Mummy can arrange more activities for us and at least when Mummy sends Kor Kor Asher to school at Bibinogs, there is someone to look after me. :)

Sometimes Gong Gong & Po Po want to take Kor Kor Asher to stay over at their place...
when will it be Ayden's turn? Anyway, since Kor Kor is with Gong Gong & Po Po, Mummy took the opportunity to bring me and Grandma (Wai Po) out for high tea at Merchant Court Hotel.
It's my first high tea!!!

Mummy is pleased with our new Auntie so far...
She is always available to takeover Baby Ayden me 8 plus in the morning when Mummy needs to send Kor Kor Asher to school.
The laundry would have been done, the floor swept and mopped.
There is hot water to make milk for Kor Kor and the other necessary.
When Mummy comes home with Kor Kor at 12 plus, lunch is always ready without fail and Auntie Elizabeth is a fast worker who picks up things fast and follows instructions well.
Most importantly she dotes on me alot...she will put down whatever she is doing and rush to tend to me whenever she hears my cries, or when I awake from my naps.
She even cooks dinner for us too!

We spent a good two weeks without and maid, after Mummy sent the crazy maid back.
Mummy took care of us... ...

Starting to eat porridge occasionally, but still eat Cerelac, brown rice cereal and Heinz most of the time.

Still not much hair...
Nails grown super fast...

Happy Birthday Daddy... ...
but mummy doubts you will ever read it anyway.

"I'm not your superwoman...I am only human..."

I try to be strong, stronger and stronger... ...
I try to be a good wife, good daughter-in-law, good daughter, good sister, good mummy... ...
but it seems like i have never really succeeded...but failed. failed terribly.

Both pregnancies and many things big small...i almost went through it just like a single mum...
i knew you didn't want it to be that way too.
I try to be understanding to all your tiredness, all your difficulties...
I try to be as independent as I can be...
whatever unjust I had to go through with anyone, i always put you at top priority...having no wish to put you in a difficult position...
No matter how tough the road ahead may seem, being married, I always thought a hubby will always be the pillar of support mentally, emotionally...

There are times I am so lonely, so tired...so mentally and emotionally drained.
BUT i am always alone.
I am just a woman afterall...
There are times I need a shoulder to cry on, a big warm hug... ...
where are they? I am just being left ignored, left alone, left on my own.
There are times I made my messages clear that I am not your superwoman, but just a stronger, independent woman who still needs your love, care and concern and help.... ...but your reply was...the capable one gets more tasks...even the stronger, independent woman has been slowly killed by your silence and nonchalance over the years.

i guess you will never understand why it is a difficult time for me now...
you will never be able to love me how I thought I will be loved by...
My genuine smile and laughter are beginning to leave me...bit by bit...
I am terrified... ....
terrified of losing them forever.

Why have I put in so much effort but for nothing?
i am scared... ...to reach the day when i will just throw the white cloth and surrender...

but i am only human...i am not your superwoman.
I will one day admit defeat to your silence, your nonchalance.

Pulling to Stand! & Crawling all over the place!

Just over couple of days time from my first attempts to crawl....

raising my butt...

my shaky wobbly crawl attempt...

I am now crawling well and fast...

I can pull myself to stand too!

Mummy thinks I may even take my first independent step faster than Kor kor Asher...

I will crawl to where there is support for me to pull to stand position....

Our major milestones so far are pretty similar except that my first pair of tooth erupted slower by about 1 month plus than Kor Kor Asher.

Mummy exclusively breatfed both of us till 6 months...erm to be exact Kor Kor Asher till exactly 6 months while Ayden (me) till 5.5months before introducing some solids to us like the brown rice cereal, Cerelac Cereal, Heinz jars etc...

Mummy says I LOVE the Heinz fruit jars whereas Kor Kor Asher never really fancied.

Next to happen...home cooked porridge which Kor Kor started having around 7months + old...

Followed by...introducing of 1 formula milk for night feed at 10months old.

Will I be following the same procedure??

Mummy's Voice: Being a Mother of 2...

Being a mother of TWO kids by age 28 has always been one of my "objectives" in life.However, I had wanted 1 boy, 1 girl and if I were to have number 3, any gender would just be fine. So now, with 2 boys... I guess if I were ever to try for number 3....the chances of another boy will be very high...so i better prepare another AXXXX name by then. :D

Still, it is a dream to have a girl....Leann Leann when can I have Leann?

Having read Auntie Tricia's blog on Approaching Mother's Day earlier really reminded me to blog about it too... ...

Eversince becoming a Mother, time has been greatly devoted to the children... ...lesser time for myself as an individual, lesser time for us as a couple. But having the children around is a different kind of fun and happiness too. (Of course, not forgetting the frustrations too...) ;p

Everything else has to take further steps backwards as priorities are all now on the children.
Everything else has to be planned around them...hoping to give them the best I can, working around other solutions to still be able to work and yet take care of them... ...

having TWO is really alot of difference to ONE.
Time is spent either on Asher or Ayden.No time to even blog...and I only can save drafts with header to keep the memory there...and do it only when I can.

The only "free" time I have is when both of them are asleep at the same time during their nap or middle of the night.As we settle into this new place...as I build and establish a good routine and practice...as I train the new helper(WHO IS LIKE A LOST SOUL AT TIMES) ...hopefully things will work out well and smooth in no time.

First time to be sick: Grouchy & down with perhaps Viral Fever?

Since Friday 11th afternoon...fever up down ... ...from 37.x to 38.x...39.X...
teething? looks like...cos I am drooling lots and always wants to chew on some stuffs...

Mummy doesn't want to give me medicine...wants me to develop my immunity without relying on medicine... ... so she just monitor my temperature and behaviour and sponge me regularly...

However, sat afternoon, I am beginning to have outbreak of rashes throughout my body and limps... ...so perhaps it is just a viral fever attack.

even my little hand has rashes...

that's my back full of rashes...

my arm ...

and I always want to be carried to sleep.... ....

sick babies are always grouchy babies... ...
and mummies with sick babies are always reluctant to let go of them...
cos they know their warmth is all what the babies want.

I am happiest when Mummy is with me and spends good quality time with me.
Though she does acknowledge she hasn't spent as good and quality time with me as compared to when she only had Kor Kor Asher back then...she still tries her best to achieve it.

As we settle down into our new place, Mummy is hoping to clear some major stuffs piling up.
Like these long awaited backdated blog postings, our pictures and most importantly MY BABY AYDEN 1ST YEAR COLLAGE ALBUM!!! Then there are those family photos yet to develop....
Household organization and decoration....getting back to work...and many others....

Mummy is getting less and less efficient...same 24 hours like last time, but not able to achieve as much stuffs.
Somehow, whenever she wakes up early planning to do some stuffs on the days Kor Kor Asher doesnt have to attend school, Kor Kor Asher will wake up early too...then if Mummy doesn't want to park Kor Kor infront of the television, she will have to accompany him...
So the other way is to do it in the night after we sleep...but many times, Kor Kor Asher takes such a long time to finally fall asleep...by then Mummy already dead asleep.

So how??
Mummy you are just lazy.
Why Daddy can always wake up earlier and go to work earlier leh?

We are shifting house.
A new environment for us!
Just Daddy, Mummy and Asher & Ayden, Golden & Silver...without Grandpa & Grandma...
probably it will take some time to get used to...
But, we will have a new Auntie...our helper.

My brother Asher had moved from Daddy & Mummy's matrimonial place Sengkang to Queenstown(Grandpa & Grandma's home), where I first came back home to after birth.
Now we have shifted to our new place in Seletar.

It will take Mummy some time to train the helper to help with the household chores, family meals and taking care of us and GS. Until then, she probably can't work much...
Poor mummy because she always like working!
It is always a struggle for mummy to want to work well and take care of us, the family well.

Mummy says....many people say I am a cheerful and super smiley baby! :) :D

I "yak yak" alot these days...and I crave for lots of attention...i don't like to be alone most of the time...this is also where mummy says its difficult to do other things.

Many commented that I am not like a 2,3 month old baby and that I engage very well...
I am wearing M size diapers le. Weighs 7kg and measures 69cm tall...

Mummy often say she feels bad as she doesnt seem to have paid as much attention to blog about my progress as compared to Kor kor Asher back then... ... well...what to do ... 2nd baby le mah...
means lesser time to do such stuffs...mummy hopes I can understand next time...

13th February 2010...just hours to go before I officially turn 2 months...

I had been co-operative throughout the dinner as I slept between Waipo and Mummy on the sofa bench while they had dinner...other than when mummy fed me...

I feel bad that I don't seem to have spent as much quality time with you as I had done with Kor kor Asher back then when he was a baby.

I realised I have been letting you sleep, feed and the most carry you in my arms and walk around ONLY etc... ...
I never sing to you as often..
I never read stories to you..
I never even talk to you alot...
your music and dance in my arms time is not as regular...

It is difficult as I have to spend time with Kor Kor too...and I guess the different compund now compared to back then, makes a difference too...but soon it will change for the better.
Forgive me Ayden, I will remember to do all the above regularly as I am about to start you on regular tummy time... ...
Babies grow super fast and soon you will be runningaround like Kor Kor...so I dont wanna miss out on your most memorable 1st year. Mummy will try my best.

My progress at 6 weeks old

I went for my check up and vaccination appointment with Dr. Tan on Tuesday, 26th Jan.

I weighed 5,25kg and measured 59cm long(tall).
Dr. Tan commented that I am a big baby and putting on weight fast and well.

I took 3 vaccines in all...
the 6-in-1 jab, the pneumococcal jab and the rotavirus oral.

Then the entire day I was our with Waipo and Mummy at Bugis Junction...
Mummy brought Waipo down to make her glasses.
We had dinner with Uncle Vid, who came to join us after work.
Mummy felt I had been a pretty good boy today...as i slept quietly in the stroller most of the day, and only made some cries when i want milk. Mummy managed to do a little shhopping for herself...which she has'y done so for a long time... ...
Comparing to when we last went Vivocity last month, both Mummy & Waipo felt that I had been a much better noy today... :)

Generally, it is veru likely for babies to develop fever after vaccination.
But my Kor Kor Asher never really develop fever after all his vaccinations till date...
As for me, I started to run fever on that night...as it hovered around 38.3degrees to 38.7degrees, mummy did not give me the fever medicine, but sponged me with damp cloth throughout the night and checking my temperature frequently while i sleep... ...by the morning, my fever totally subsided le. ;p

Mummy believes in building up our immune system while young, so we can be stronger.
Hence, she avoids giving us medicine as much as possible.
In fact Kor Kor also hardly ever takes medicine till date... ....

let's hope the only concern after my 6 weeks checkup will be fine.

A more challenging baby to handle than kor kor Asher

Mummy & Daddy both thinks that I am a more CHALLENGING baby to handle than Kor Kor Asher...compared to when he was a baby like me...

I need more coaxing to go to bed most of the time...this is not too bad yet...
but mummy thinks the most important thing is she got to worry more about me...

I regurgitate out milk pretty often and even with burping me, i let out super loud burps...
and daddy thinks I seem weaker than Kor Kor back then...

And with my recent check up at my PD, Dr. Tan says the "clicking" feel (since birth) at my left hip is still there unlike my right hip which feels ok now... ... she told Mummy during the time when i just arrived back in TMC, that usually the clicking goes off after sometime... ...so apparently now that it is still there, Dr. Tan is suggesting to Mummy to send me for a Hip Ultrasound scan.

If it is the ligament, it is still ok.
Hopefully it is not that my bones have under developed.... ....

Mummy says I am a more fussy baby than Kor Kor Asher when he was a baby like me...
I cry more, though not really alot...but i have my preferred position to be carried in nowadays..and i won't stop unless you get it right...

at 1plus AM 15th Dec 2009

my heartbeat was detected too fast

see the top left hand corner "181"

suppose to average 140plus to mas 150plus

so mummy had to take oxygen for some 2 hours
to see if it could help bring down my heartbeat...

luckily it did...

Next morning 8am...settled in the delivery ward...

Mummy felt lonely after Daddy went off for work...but she tried not to think about it...

so she got up walk around, took pictures of the anything and everything in the ward...

and even took a bath...

Not as much contractions as the night before and even if there were any, they were far apart...

dilation still at 4cm...

this is to monitor the contractions...
it churns out a chart sort of report...

making herself stay cheerful to fight the lonely battle

And yeah!!! finally daddy came back at 2plus almost 3pm...

in time enough to go through the toughest part of the labour with mummy...

By about 4plus PM, mummy started taking the "laughing gas" when dilation was 5/6cm onwards, whereas when she had Kor kor, she started only at 8cm.

it has a slight numbing effect...

at some point, the pain was so bad at the waist/spine area

that mummy thought if she should have just gone for epidural instead?!
"it is a lie...who said 2nd one is easier and faster?????!!!"
Mummy kept asking for the doctor, but nurses kept assuring her it is fine...talk to them also the same.. but how to tell them, mummy trusts the gynae more?!
Then the nurses kept switching on the "surgical lighting" and then only to switch off and walk out again...it only dampens mummy's morale and mood...

Then I was out!
5plus pm..

Then now during my time, you actually exclaimed "wow, such a big syringe ah!!!" to mummy when she simply does not want to know about it...

Daddy, you must learn to be more "xing mu" and not do such things le...

though they are quite a nice memorable JOKE!

Dear Little Ayden,

When you were in me, during the pregnancy, there were so many times i felt so sorry to you.
I was worried if kor kor would have accidentally kicked you at times when i had to care for him.
I was worried if mummy's certain actions might have hurt you unknowingly, though knowing with the water bag, it was unlikely.

Well, there is one thing you will have to learn to understand when you grow up..that is despite certain situations, like for this instance, pregnancy for mummy, life still goes on. There are work that is waiting to be done and have to be done whether or not mummy is pregnant with you.

So the minute you came out, I was so happy to hear and see for myself that you are absolutely ok. Well developed, good heartbeat and everything else is fine. Although all the while the ultrasound scans shows you are great.

Inevitably, there are definitely pros and cons of being the 1st or subsequent babies for the family. When mummy first had Asher Kor Kor, many many note taking, much more attention paid to the little details during the pregnancy, much more reading etc... ...cos I was a new mummy FIRST TIME!

So Little Ayden, you probably had lesser such benefits. But because mummy is more experienced this time, I am able to handle you with much more confidence and knowledge. That is also why, you had the benefit of staying in the ward with mummy most of the time during the 3 days stay at the hospital, rather than in the hospital nursery. Even back at home, mummy is able to handle my emotions and mental state much much better compared to when I had your Kor Kor...despite being much more tiring since now it is caring for 2 of you, rather than just Kor Kor Asher, the only one back then.

In fact, Mummy actually bought you SOOOOOooOO much more new clothes even before your arrival, when Kor Kor Asher probably only had 2 or 3 new sets before he came. Simply because Mummy knows that it is inevitable that you will have to inherit the pass down clothes, toys, books and stuffs, and you may end up not having a lot of new stuffs... ... so unknowingly mummy ended up buying more more clothes for you instead. ;p

When you are old enough to read and understand the rationale behind this post, just remember what mummy wants you to understand is... ...

Whether as the number 1 baby or number 2 baby or more... ...
All of you are important to Daddy and Mummy, important to the family.
We love all of you with no differences...but sometimes each of you may be loved in a different way.
Some things in life are beyond our control and the chain of events that happen thereafter are inevitable.

So never compare. Because each of you are unique and individual.
Each of you are just as important to us.

Today is the first time mummy bathed for me personally...but no pictures... Past few days I had been bathed by PoPo...Daddy's Mummy.

Kor Kor Asher has been ultra nice to me too... ...He will always rush to pat pat me when i cry... ...
There is this once, when mummy was changing my nappy for me, kor kor asher saw that my butt was reddish...he actually said:"Hot. Hot. Blow Blow." and he went on to blow my butt... ...hahaha mummy thought it was soOOOoo funny. Kor Kor Asher relates RED to HOT.

Then another time, he saw that I had no Bolster (chou4 chou4), he actually gave me his bolsters by placing them next to me... ...my wonderful big brother Asher!

So far, jealousy from Kor Kor has been at super minimum. Mummy hopes it will stay that way. :)

Though managing both Kor Kor and I has been tiring for Mummy, especially now that I have to be fed every 2 to 3 hours.....but we are great boys and will be!!

When I first came back yesterday...Kor Kor Asher was still sleeping...
Then when he woke up, he came out of the room and walked over to hug hug, pat pat mummy....2 days never see mummy...bet he missed her...

Mummy missed Kor Kor Asher too...

So mummy introduced us...
and gave Kor Kor a NEW Thomas the Train set...

Kor Kor was very nice to me yesterday...

when mummy ask him to check out DIDI, "Why Didi crying?" kor kor will come over to take a look at me...

then when mummy was going back to the room to feed me, kor kor "sa jiao" for like 3 seconds then it was ok le....ended up he followed us up to the room and while mummy was feeding me, kor kor gave me a toy...NOT his new thomas the train of course...

then he also came over to pat pat me when I was at reachable height to him... ...

and throughout the night, who carry me, he also never make noise...but it could be because daddy's friends were here with their kids...

that's my nice Asher kor kor...

Only when Mummy wanted to change kor kor into his pyjamas and she got PO PO to carry me instead, Kor Kor didnt want to. He wanted Mummy to carry me instead...

Officially arrived at 5plus pm today 15th December 2009!!
I am Baby Ayden Seah Z-We (Xie Ze Wei) 谢泽威.

My official due date is 18th Dec 2009.
However, as of 10th Dec 2009, I was already 3.4Kg and going strong.
So Dr. Khi suggested inducing my birth to avoid a possible c-sect for mummy.

And knowing mummy would want to do without epidural for me as well, just like Kor Kor Asher, Dr. Khi is worried mummy may not be able to deliver me.

Then we contemplated 12th Dec Sat. Nice Date....but seem like too sudden and mummy still have things to do...and mummy still wanted to try to experience me coming naturally without being induced...like the water bag burst on its own...spotting etc..

So the next preferred date 15th Dec 2009 as its "near" to Asher Kor Kor...who was born on 15th Feb 2008. Hence easy to remember.

So 14th Dec 2009 4 plus pm...tablet inserted to commence induction of birth of me, to commence dilation. At this point Mummy is still 0.5CM dilated ONLY

To admit TMC at 11plus pm...

Went back home for dinner and rest...spend some time with Kor Kor Asher...

Then evening onwards till midnight...mummy experienced quite intensive regular contractions...

Upon admission, 12plus am to 2plus am, Mummy and I had to be put on CTG scan to monitor my heartbeat and her contractions....and Mummy was running slight fever... my heartbeat was too too fast...so mummy got to be put on oxygen mask for this 2 hours...oh and dilation was about 2 to 3cm..

Then after that finally can go in to our room and rest till morning 8plus am for the battle!!
